Schneider Large Format Lenses
Joseph Schneider, born in 1855 in Germany, founded what is now Schneider optics in 1913. Every since the company has been manufacturing some of the highest quality large format lenses available on the market. Of course many of the lenses they produced have been discontinued and replaced with improved versions based on newer technologies and methods of production. Fortunately many of the older lenses, as well as discounted newer lenses can be found found for sale used.

Schneider Large Format Lenses Currently In Production:
Apo-Tele-Xenar HM:
This 5 element large format lens falls into the tele-photo category with focal lengths of 400mm for use with camera formats up to 13 x 18 centimeters as well as 800mm which can be used with cameras as large as 30 x 40 centimeters. The Apo-Tele-Xenar has an angle of view of 35 degrees and has a multi-layer and anti-reflection coating. Available with an aperture of 5.6 in the 400mm model.
Fine Art XXL:
For those photographers who feel that 4x5 and even 8x10 are just too insignifigant to render the detail and nuance they are after(and with a hearty budget), these may be their line of lenses. These large format lenses from Schneider are designed to address particular issues often associated with these ultra-large fromat cameras. Offered in 550mm and 1100mm both are known for their exceptional optical properties allowing for evenly high resolution throughout the image circle and very low distortion.
Super-Angulon Classic:
This Schneider large format lens falls into the ultra-wide angle category. Available in focal lengths of 210mm all the way down to 47mm it is often used with medium format cameras as well. It's know for it's exceptional contrast and resolution as well as it's impressive 100 degrees angle of view when stopped down.
Super-Symmar XL Aspeheric:
The large format lenses in this line are Schneiders top of the line in wide angle. The 4 component aspherics (containing 6 elements in total) boast a 105 degrees angle of view and does so in a smaller package and with improved image quality when compared to the super-angulon classic. These qualities make these lenses ideal for highly technical studio and architecutal applications where drastic camera movement is desired or required.
