Normal (4×5) Large Format Lenses: 127mm to 210mm
127mm to 210mm large format lenses:
It seems that a lot of photographers, particularly new photographers, want to immediately get hold of the widest lens they can. I don't think that's always the best idea. For beginners I believe that learning to work with a "normal" focal length lens is important before moving on to longer or wider lenses as particular situations or artistic taste dictate.

Anyway, these lenses would all be considered roughly "normal" for 4x5 cameras. If you're shooting 8x10, these would be your quite wide to very wide lenses. On a 4x5 150mm seems to be the lens that many find to be just right in many situations. It's still just slightly wide but not so much that it's apparent in the photograph. Those photographers preferring wider lenses will start to get a bit claustrophobic when they look through a 210mm lens but it would be a bit more of a push to call it a long lens for 4x5 than a normal lens.
